New Year’s & Independence Day Recipe

happy-new-year-2017-lffDear Friends,

On January 1st 2017 we celebrate the arrival of a new year filled with powerful optimism for an outstanding series of new achievements. On this same day we also celebrate the 213th anniversary of the independence of our beloved Haïti (January 1, 1804) – setting a precedent that opened the doors of opportunity for nations.

Thus we present you with year-end and year-beginning gifts. For year-end we offer you highlights of impressive youth achievements from throughout the year, including the college graduationof Le Flambeau Foundation scholar Ruchama (see links below).  To launch the new year we gift you with delicious servings of Soup Joumou – a unique Haiti rooted recipe for success, celebrating achievements of the past and future (history & recipe). This is a recipe passed forward in many ways, for generations.

Soup Joumou 122913True to the spirit of Le Flambeau Foundation and the meaning of January 1st, we celebrate our achievements and pass forward future educational opportunities to youth in Haiti who will ultimately emanate the independence, success, and leadership earned by our forefathers.  Together we build a healthy independent, strong, and sustainable Haiti that will bear gifts for all of us.

May our newborn year bring even more to the table and may we all remember to continue the tradition and pass forward our good fortune.  Happy Independence Day! Happy New Year!
