World Cup Jason Derulo’s ‘Colors’ Video Takes Fans to Haiti

L’Union Suite, April 11, 2018

Jason DeruloHaitian-American superstar Jason Derulo traveled to his homeland of Haiti to create the official music video for “Colors.” The song, a Coca-Cola’s anthem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup is bright, upbeat and full of inclusionary statements like, “there’s beauty in the unity we’ve found.”

In the video, Derulo travels to various locations but our favorite is his shots of the magnificent Citadelle Laferrière, a large mountaintop fortress in Nord, Haiti, located on top of the mountain south of the city of Cap-Haïtien. Derulo drapes himself in the Haiti flag and performed with a few of the locals at Citadelle.

In his scenes shot in Miami, Haitian-American guitar-strumming Wyclef Jean makes a cameo rocking his usual Haitian flag around his head.

The video is a celebration of unity, bringing individuals together from around the world to celebrate their respective flags and nationalities. “Through my years of travel, I’ve been able to see the beauty in our cultural differences and I wrote ‘Colors’ to celebrate that diversity and be a part of the amazing energy that sports fans around the world give to their teams,” Jason Derulo says in a press statement.
The vibrant video was directed by Gil Green, who also directed Derulo’s “Stupid Love” and “Swalla”
This year, the 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15.
