Happy New Year & Independence

Le Flambeau Foundation, Inc., January 1, 2019

New Year 2019 LFFfnlThe year 2018 came and went in the blink of an eye and we now find ourselves facing the end, and the beginning – 2019. Natural disasters, political shifts, and economic restructuring; each played a role in this year’s story. Educational advancement, a board meeting in Haiti that gave birth to new projects in Haiti, the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights celebrations in Miami and in Haiti, and new THE SPARK of Le Flambeau graduates; shed extra positive light on shared priorities.

January 1st, in addition to being New Year’s Day, is Independence Day for Haiti (January 1, 1804) – the 215th year anniversary.  To read the Declaration of Independence (click here).  Education is one of the strongest indicators of true independence; it is the foundation from which economies and communities grow, and sustain.

Sustainable economic rebuilding is a collaborative affair that we as global citizens must continue to influence, and DO.  The power to change our future is in the will to educate our youth.  Education is the ultimate freedom and a catalyst for a new year of achievements, of historic proportions.
