My Faithful Compass

This piece was written by Le Flambeau Foundation Scholar Ruchama who recently completed her third semester of college in the U.S.  and recently launched her  fourth.  She is an alumna of THE SPARK of Le Flambeau program.  Ruchama is carrying a double major in Accounting and Music.  Congratulations!

I just completed my third semester and now the fourth one has begun. I look back and see amazing things that God has done. I am blissful for this moment; it is so significant to me.

This past semester was a good and rewarding one. I enjoyed my seven classes; I enjoyed my work, preparing sales tax and keeping track of the book. I valued the time spent with some wonderful friends. I also had the privilege to spend a few weeks with family members in Massachusetts and in New York and ate my Haitian food that I missed so much. I enjoyed every second of it. It was priceless!

It is time again to start working for what you believe. This current semester I am taking nine classes, and doing the same job at work; no wonder how busy I am …

I am still focused on Accounting and Music. I am happy for the moment. A book is writing about this dreaming and meaningful moment – a dream that started a few years ago and still goes on.  Special thanks to Le Flambeau Foundation , and to you also supporters for being part of this dream.

The faithful compass. The compass does not show the stars one after the other, in search of what pleases it most. The sun, the stars, and the planets are trying to seduce and deflect it, but the compass swears loyalty to the North Star. It shows north amid the roar of the storm, and in peaceful quietness. Thus, is the way of life. Idealists do not dwell in illusion. Whoever sets the ideal of his life and does not allow anything or anyone to deflect it, will transform his dreams into reality.

Difficult does not mean impossible. It simply means that you have to work hard. It is good to be strong and courageous in the wrestle. It is good to be noble and not shy away from difficulties.

Be real, be unique, be true, be honest, be humble, be yourself, develop your character, and most of all be joyful!
