In Honor of Dr. Luc L. Colas

In honor of Dr. Luc L. Colas who devoted his life to leading, teaching and giving (February 24, 1921 - November 3, 2009)

Dr. Luc. L. Colas gifted many with his leadership. After barrier-breaking accomplishments in the 1950's as a medical doctor and later as a lawyer, Dr. Luc Colas found that his greatest rewards in life came from educating and helping bright young people in Haiti.

Dr. Luc Colas spearheaded the birth of the Le Flambeau Foundation's presence in Haiti; resulting in scholars from Haiti attending college in the U.S. and in the life changing experiences of many more young people in Haiti. He traveled the world helping others in Zaire/Congo, the U.S., Turks and Caicos, Venezuela, Germany and China; completing his journey at home in Haiti. His gift for giving changed the lives of many and his legacy lives on in the Dr. Luc L. Colas Institute in Cap-Haitian where underserved bright young people will always be welcome as they are prepared for sustainable success. Through the leadership of Dr. Luc L. Colas the Torch was lit and is carried forward by all of us.

The Dr. Luc L. Colas Institute

The Dr. Luc L. Colas Institute in Cap-Haitian (Haiti) will be located on the property that served as home to Dr. Luc L. Colas and will host educational programming with an emphasis on Leadership English Learning and College Test Preparation. The Institute will also house the Le Flambeau Foundation's headquarter presence in Haiti. The focus is to make the opportunity to succeed available to all who are willing to work for it and possess the character that will take Haiti to the next level. Programming will be available to underserved, highly motivated, bright youth in Haiti who meet performance, potential and character requirements, ideally at a nominal or no charge rate - students must earn their way in. The Le Flambeau Foundation, with your help, will provide the programming and educational tools. All students who complete their programming will become valuable candidates for the growing job market in Haiti. Top performers from the preparatory programming will become strong candidates for the Le Flambeau Foundation full tuition college scholarships.
