Haiti Earthquake Information
Message from the President of Le Flambeau Foundation
Thank you for your many notes and calls received as Haiti faces yet another challenge. We are all dealing with the shock of yesterday’s earthquake (7.0 magnitude), estimated to be the worst in the region in over 200 years. Small bits and pieces of information are trickling in from our personal and Le Flambeau Foundation families in Haiti.
The news is devastating. Major structures, family homes, the Montana (major hotel at which we hosted visiting groups while in PAP and at which we recently completed student recognition ceremonies a few weeks ago) and more, have all been flattened. The National Palace is in bad shape. Injuries and death toll estimates are yet to be determined. This situation would be devastating anywhere. With the very weak infrastructure in Haiti, I struggle to find an accurate description.
With optimism in our hearts and perseverance in our spirit we brace ourselves and each other as we prepare for more news. We are here to help. For the many that have asked "how can I help" provided below are options. We continue to know that the future for Haiti is bright. Thank you for being with Haiti.
Please read more of the message and post your comments on the Le Flambeau Foundation Circle of Friends Blog.
